There’s nothing I like more than someone being a little subversive in their work. I’m not sure if that’s actually Adam Hughes’ intention in the new Betty & Veronica but that’s what worked for me on a couple different levels in this freshman effort. The relaunch of the Archie brand has moved on to its master plan, getting one of the premier cheesecake pinup artists in the industry to draw Riverdale’s two most famous sweethearts and as a bonus the same guy is writing the book as well. By the second word bubble we get the phrase “Our Titular Heroines” and
We’re back and this time with a special guest. “GirlOnTheCouch” joins us to talk the worldwide sensation Pokemon Go. Jordan remains unconvinced while Clay and Callie recount their adventures on becoming the very best. During the second half of the show the boys dive into the Eisner Award winning Papergirls while Callie stares blankly at the screen.
A double episode explosion of goodness. First on Episode 3 we talk about E3 and our fear of VR stemming from The Lawnmower Man. On Episode 4 we talk all about Frank Miller’s Dark Knight mythos to celebrate the release of The Dark Knight: The Last Crusade. We’re in ITunes now as well if you prefer an audio version of the podcast instead, so look us up, Like and Share, it means a lot to us to grown the show and make it better 🙂
The first PC game I ever really got into was Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness. Many an afternoon I spent tying up my parents phone line to direct dial my buddy across town so we could play 2v2 against the computer AI in Blizzard’s masterpiece RTS. Warcraft 2 would set me down the path of being a Blizzard fanboy, which I still am proudly to this day. I’ve sunk years of my life into the Blizzard franchises, Starcraft, Diablo and none more than Warcraft. I was there Day 1 for World of Warcraft and though my playing habits have changed throughout
We made it a whole two episodes! This episode of the Gamer Breakfast Show we talk all about DC Rebirth and give a quick history on what got us to this point. Jordan read Batman, Clay checked out Green Lantern but overall the hook of Rebirth just left us kinda sad. I bet you really you want to listen now.
So we up and started a podcast. Episode 1 is a retrospective on the X-men movie franchise. We will continue to improve the quality but all in all we’re pretty happy with the first go for a couple of rookies. Please listen and enjoy!
Cedar Rapids Comic Con was a comic convention held in my hometown of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Last year I attended the warm up convention for this one titled “NewBo Con” at the local city market. The organizer, Preston Moore, was testing the waters for a Comic Con in Cedar Rapids and had a lot of support and success in a smaller venue so for the second year he took the plunge and moved to a larger downtown convention center with more room, more vendors, more panels, more gaming, you get the idea. I thought it would be fun to support the convention and promote
WARNING SPOILERS PRESENT READ AT YOUR OWN RISK I sit here writing this blog having just watched Episode VII a few hours ago. This was a day, up until a few years ago, I did not have a lot of hope would ever come. Since about 6th grade Star Wars has been a constant in my life. I was only a little baby when the original trilogy graced the silver screen and changed blockbuster films forever, but through my older sister’s love of Star Wars I also gained a love of Star Wars. We had the original movies, recorded off
Adam Sandler is a life time pass kinda guy for me. I know its cool to bash the guy because his movies have been lacklustery cash grabs for over a decade now, but I won’t hate because of two reasons, he made “Billy Madison” and because of he made the comedy album “They’re All Gonna Laugh at You.” These two things are both masterpieces in their respective genres and for better or for worse contributed greatly to forming my sense of humor as an impressionable youth. I’m also an arcade guy. Even though I wasn’t born until 1982, the greatest year of
Are you suffering from reboot fatigue? Have Jurassic World and Terminator Genisys spiked your attention but ultimately left you feeling hollow and unfulfilled? Are you convinced there are truly no original ideas left with Hollywood recasting Spiderman yet again and Ben Affleck taking up the bat cowl? Then let me turn you on to a reboot that gets it right, everyone’s favorite high school redhead Archie relauched this week an all new #1 and amazingly it was pretty good. I should preface this with the fact I have zero history with Archie. I have a faint memory of a Saturday
